Even though Jennifer and Jason live in Southern Ontario, they decided to have their wedding here in Thunder Bay with family. The location, their parents’ camp out on Pass Lake. It was definitely one of the most beautiful settings I have had the pleasure of being at for a wedding. Luckily I was there from the afternoon to the late evening, which allowed me to spend some quality time with everyone.

It’s been quite a while since I last photographed a wedding at the Portuguese Association, so it felt good to be back. Elena and Jonathan decided to do an outdoor wedding which was awesome. The whole setup and decor was just perfect and once again, the weather cooperated as well. As soon as I arrived, I started capturing some of the details and people arriving. I could tell right away it was going to be a chill and fun wedding.

Lisa and Claudio finally got to celebrate their wedding earlier this week. After a few postponements, I’m so thankful it still happened like they wanted it to. It was a very small and intimate wedding at The Chanterelle, which ended up being perfect. The ceremony itself was short and sweet. Anyone who knows Lisa and Claudio, would not be surprised the attention to detail for everything about the wedding.

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, backyard weddings are becoming the new normal, and also my favourite type of wedding. One of the main reasons why I enjoy photographing smaller weddings, is that you get to spend more time with the immediate family. Plus, they tend to be a lot more laid back, which lends itself to many more candid moments. Which I’m all about.

Even with forest fires looming far off in the distance and extremely hot weather, Jennifer and her family still joined me for a mini session at Centennial Park the other evening. One of her sisters wasn’t able to make it, but we still had a great time capturing some formal portraits and a few candid ones as well. I swear we laughed most of the session too! All in all, it was a lot of fun, and I’m already looking forward to a potential session in September with all of Jennifer’s family.

My latest family session was out in the country at Kim and her family’s home. When possible, I always recommend doing sessions in this setting. It’s just such a great opportunity to not only get the usual group photos, but a lot of candids as well! Everyone is just so much more relaxed.

When Bianca asked me to come by and capture some of her bridal shower, I simply couldn’t wait until the day arrived. It’s been a very hard year for everyone, and I haven’t gotten out that much for my usual wedding and portrait sessions. With things restrictions easing up more and more, I’m truly thankful and appreciative of any sessions I get to do now.

Graduation was definitely different this year for all the students. I had a few families reach out to me to do grad sessions with their family. It was actually the best of both worlds. Not only did I get to capture beautiful graduation photos in an outdoor setting, I also got photos of the family as well.

It ended up being the perfect afternoon for a family portrait session. Alyssa and Nathan joined me, with their children at Trow Bridge Falls. It was also a graduation session as well, which you should be able to tell from the photos below. At first all the kids were a bit chilly, but it only took about 5 minutes for them to warm up, after running to each location, and around the playground. It felt really good being out in the nice weather capturing portraits again!

The other portion of my mini session this past weekend was with Michael, Evy and Arthur. I was so impressed how easy going both Evy and Arthur were during the entire session. From the very first photo, they were smiling and laughing. It made for a very sincere and authentic session.
