Katherine + Gerry Wedding
My good friend Gerry who I have known since high school decided to finally tie the knot and asked me to photograph his wedding. Anytime I get the chance to photograph an friends wedding I always look forward to it. Having met Katherine a couple times prior to the wedding I knew instantly that they were perfect for each other. So once the day came, I couldn't wait to get started.

Anytime I get the chance to photograph an friends wedding I always look forward to it. Having met Katherine a couple times prior to the wedding I knew instantly that they were perfect for each other. So once the day came, I couldn't wait to get started.
Before the ceremony, Katherine wanted some getting ready shots which took place at the same location as the ceremony, The Italian Hall. I spent about 20 minutes with girls and then it was off to the ceremony in the main banquet room. Admittedly this was the first time actually photographing the ceremony itself inside but it ended up being very nice and the decor was amazing. The ceremony itself came and went very fast but I managed to capture some good candid photos of the wedding part and of course the guests. Katherine and Gerry had a great little science experiment and there were also a couple other fun moments as well.
It was then off for some group portraits. The first stop was our old stomping ground, PACI. I really did enjoy going to that high school so it was very cool using it as a backdrop for the portraits. We started with the front entrance for the family photos and then moved on down to the trees for some of the wedding party photos.
Gerry and Katherine originally met at Madhouse so that was our next stop on the way back to the Italian Hall. We got a couple photos at the bar and then at one of the nice little tables in the back corner. Once I was done there I actually when home for a few hours and then started up again at the reception later in the evening. The reception was a ton of fun with a few great surprises. At one point a Ukrainian Dance Group took to the floor and put on a masterful performance. I actually managed to get a few good action shots as well which I was very impressed with. Then it was time for dancing and good times.
The band for the night was absolutely amazing and later in the evening Gerry joined them onstage for a few classic songs. I must say he sang pretty damn good. After a bit more dancing, the harder and bouquet toss, then eventually the cutting of the cake my night was over. All in all it was a super fun day and it was a pleasure being a part of a good friends special day. Thank you to Katherine and Gerry for the opportunity to capture there wedding day!
Rob + Theresa Wedding
Rob & Theresa celebrated their wedding this past June 1st and I had the pleasure of photographing them the entire day. We started at St. Peters Church in the East End. I had never been in this church before so I was in awe of how it looked on the inside. My favourite part was being able to go upstairs which allowed me to get some nice wide shots of the entire ceremony.

My favourite part was being able to go upstairs which allowed me to get some nice wide shots of the entire ceremony. After the ceremony was done everyone gathered outside the church and talked for a while before moving on to the next location. This was a good opportunity to get some more candid photos as well as some posed shots in front of the church.
For the next few hours we went to different locations for the portraits with the wedding party. The first stop was the Thunder Bay Museum. The three of us recently did a short engagement shoot there so I was anxious to get the whole wedding party inside and take advantage some of the exhibits. Some of my faves from this part of the tour was when we got both bridal parties in front of the old street exhibit. Upon exiting the Museum I quickly got Rob & Theresa to stand in the middle of the busy street so I could get some shots of them with the city as the backdrop.
It was then off to the Thunder Bay Conservatory. We spent about 40 minutes here. This is always a good location to shoot at because the lighting is great and there are lots of wonderful backdrops. Plus, we basically had the place to ourselves.
The last stop before the reception was Comix Plus, one of the local comic book stores downtown. Everyone had a great time there posing with the all the old comic books and albums. As you can see from the photos below we came away with some very unique photos.
The reception took place at the Italian Hall. As always it was a great venue. Everyone had a great time and there were a lot of laughs. Especially when Rob and Theresa were put back to back on chairs and asked to answer questions about their relationship. Some of the expressions during those moments were priceless. My night was almost done but not before the first dance. You could really tell just how much in love Rob and Theresa were by the way they danced and kissed during that first dance.
Thanks again, as always, to Rob and Theresa for letting me document their special day!
Bob + Michelle Wedding
My final wedding of the season was with Bob & Michelle. Bob and I used to play baseball back in the day so when him and Michelle asked me to shoot their wedding I was excited to see how he’s been. After initially photographing their engagement photos earlier in the year I also got the opportunity to get to know Michelle as well. Suffice it to say I was very anxious to work with them again for their wedding.

The day for me started at Michelle’s house. As everyone got ready I just tried to stay out of the way while capturing some natural and spontaneous moments. I came away with some really good ones. The bus then came and picked up all the girls and drove them to the church. The ceremony itself was at St. Dominic’s Church. This was my first wedding here and as soon as I entered my heart skipped a beat. It was by far one of the nicest and most grand churches I have been in. During the ceremony I really tried to show that scale in some of the photos. Because of all the wide open space I was able to move around and get some good emotional photos.
After the ceremony everyone gathered outside and eventually saw the bride, groom and rest of the bridal part off. Our first stop was the Friendship Gardens for the family photos. Although there weren’t too many fall colours out yet, there were still plenty of colours and beautiful spots to work with. Then it was off to the Fort William Gardens. We weren’t able to actually take photos on the ice but we did manage to get some photos in the stands and press box. The final stop for portraits was the Port Arthur Stadium. We actually had a bit more time to work with so we used the dugout and tunnels for some unique shots. The entire party also took to the field which allowed from some good candid photos.
Lastly, we ended up the Italian Hall for the reception. This was my first time in the main ballroom. The decorations were fantastic along with the rest of the decor. It was definitely a busy day but it went by very fast. Being able to go to a variety of locations through Thunder Bay was the biggest highlight of the day for me. Bob, Michelle and the rest of the party were very easy going and fun to hang out with. Thanks to everyone for a great time!
