It was my first time this year doing a hockey session at the Fort William Gardens. It was very cool. The U13A Elks were one of two teams I photographed that day.

U11 Neebing Wildhawks Hockey Session - Neebing Arena
One of my recent hockey session was with the U11 Neebing Wildhawks. As always we did some locker room portraits first, followed by the team photo and then some action shots on the ice. It always amazes me how well these young kids can play!

CMHC - First Nation Youth Forum on Housing
I recently covered a small portion of a workshop for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation where they asked First Nation Youth to come and learn about housing, housing issues and solutions. It took place on the Fort William First Nation here in Thunder Bay. It was a two day workshop with a very hands on approach and I spent about 3 hours with the youth photographing them. I was only allowed to photograph a few of the students, who were all over 18 years of age, but I was still able to show lots of what was going on.

Near the end of the workshop, 3 students were interview and asked questions pertaining to housing and some of their thoughts. It was great hearing the perspective of our youth and what some of their solutions would be. It was a very eye opening workshop for me as a photographer and I’m glad CMHC is running these throughout Canada. If you would like to learn more, head on over to their website.
YLP Embracing Youth Festival - ONWA
ONWA is always hosting great events in and around the community and this time around they had a wonderful event right in their backyard called the YLP Embracing Youth Festival. It was a free festival and it had so many great artists and vendors. I was amazed at how many people showed up.
ONWA is always hosting great events in and around the community and this time around they had a wonderful event right in their backyard called the YLP Embracing Youth Festival. It was a free festival and it had so many great artists and vendors. I was amazed at how many people showed up.
There was music, comedy, contests and of course dancing. All the kids that were there seemed to have a great time, along with everyone else. I'm really hoping they this again soon as I had a fantastic time capturing some of the event. Below you can see some of the highlights from the evening.
