Brittany + Patrick Wedding - Charkuu102

Earlier this summer I had the pleasure of capturing the wedding of Brittany and Patrick. They hired me for a full day, which meant I got to follow them to a few different locations, eventually ending at a local venue I have never photographed at before, Charkuu102.

Earlier this summer I had the pleasure of capturing the wedding of Brittany and Patrick. They hired me for a full day, which meant I got to follow them to a few different locations, eventually ending at a local venue I have never photographed at before, Charkuu102.

The day started with Patrick and the boys getting ready. They were as calm as could be and very relaxed. My favourite part of my time with them was the fact that Patrick decided to pose with a moose head, which they had recently gotten. It was an epic photo and one of my favourites from the day.

Then it was off to to the girls getting ready. As with the boys, it was also a very chilled environment, which made for some really great natural candid moments.

Shortly after that, everyone hopped on the bus to go out to the country. Before the final destination of Charkuu102, Brittany and Patrick wanted to get some photos at a property they recently purchased. It was a great spot to do the ‘official’ first look and also a lot of the wedding party photos.

Charkuu102 was where the ceremony, and eventually, reception would be taking place. As I mentioned, it was to be my first them, and I was not disappointed. It definitely ranks up there with one of the most beautiful locations in town.

Once the ceremony was done, we got all the family group photos and then eventually some more wedding party photos too. The rest of the night went by super fast. It was filled with some very sincere and funny speeches, amazing food, lawn games and eventually some dancing to end the night for me. Before I left, we gathered everyone up and got an extremely epic group photo of everyone still there.

All in all, it was a day to remember, and one that I am so happy I got to catpure!

Chelsea + Patrick Family Session

It’s been a while since I have done a home session with a couple. So it felt really good to visit Chelsea and Patrick today, and of course their kitty, for some nice authentic and candid photos. I’m still surprised it took me 5 minutes into the session to realize how big of a Bills fan Patrick was. We of course ended the session with their game watching outfits, which was just so perfect!

Shauna + Patrick Family Portraits - Shebandowan

With summer winding down, hopefully not too soon, my latest portrait session took place in Shebandowan at Shauna and Patrick’s camp. I had passed by the area on a number of occasions on my way to Fort Frances but I was super excited photograph there. We were back and forth leading up to the session not knowing if the weather would hold but luckily it did.

We were back and forth leading up to the session not knowing if the weather would hold but luckily it did.

I ended up getting there a bit early which worked out perfectly. It allowed me to capture photos of some of their camp. I’m used to always photographing weddings and events so I always try to treat portrait sessions the same, especially when the property is as beautiful as this one.

With a new addition to the family Shauna and Patrick figured it was as good a time as any to get updated portraits done. It was an hour session but it went by so quick. The weather held up for the most part. With about 15 minutes left it did start to rain but by then, I had gotten a ton of photos.

I’m always looking to photograph at different locations so travelling 45 minutes outside of Thunder Bay to do so was a welcome change.

Patrick + Family Portraits - Centennial Park

My session of the weekend took place this past Friday at Centennial Park with Patrick and his family. In all, there were 5 families members including Patrick, and they were all extremely fun to photograph. The weather was beautiful and the sun was behind the clouds for the most part, so it was the perfect setting for an hour long family session.

We all met in the parking lot and then made our way down the trail towards the cabins, stopping along the way. Anyone who has read or seen any of my blog posts in the past knows that I have done plenty of session at Centennial Park. One of the main reasons being that is one of the most beautiful and family friendly spots to take photos in town. The challenge with that though, is not making every session look the same.

Luckily, that's not a hard thing to do, because the families change each and every time and they bring their own personality to the shoot. This one was no different. There was a lot of laughing and joking around, and you could just tell, they all get along very well. This atmosphere made for some really 'natural' posted photos as well as some good candid ones too.

I was hoping to finish up by the horses, but for some reason the gate was closed, so we couldn't do that. Although, we did end up getting a few good shots in and around the park. After that, the session was done. It was a great start to the weekend, and I'm thankful I was able to spend an hour of my time photographing such a fun family.
