St. Benard Kindergarten Information Session

This past Thursday saw St. Benard School host an kindergarten information session. It was a last minute booking for me, but luckily I was able to accept it. I didn't know much going in but once I got there, I soon realized there was going to be approximately 400 people there. My job for the next hour was to simply capture candids of the attendees, the booths and the speakers. It was right up my alley and my favourite type of photography.

I love photographing people, especially children. I think I came away with some great photos, and also succeeded in representing the overall feel of the event. It was nice to see so much excitement from the kids as well as the parents. They got to meet some of their future teachers too. All in all, the hour went by fast but a lot happened and I was glad to be a part of it.

Angel + Family Portraits - Boulevard Lake

Wow, what another great portrait session. Luckily this time the weather was much nicer so I was able to photograph Angie and her family outside at Boulevard Lake. Once I arrived I noticed just how much snow we have had over the past while. The good news was that the trails were cleared so it made for easy walking.

Wow, what another great portrait session. Luckily this time the weather was much nicer so I was able to photograph Angel and her family outside at Boulevard Lake. Once I arrived I noticed just how much snow we have had over the past while. The good news was that the trails were cleared so it made for easy walking.

As I met up with Angel and her family in the parking lot I noticed a pickup truck, a rope and father and daughter getting their skis on. Low and behold, shortly thereafter the truck pulled away with the two people getting pulled by the truck. It was definitely a sight to see and one that would lead into a very fun portrait session.

One of our first stops on the session was the playground located right by the parking lot. Angel and her entire family were very accommodating and willing to climb around a bit. Angel had a couple great suggestions for spots to get shots and they turned out fantastic. One of my favourite photos of the day was by far the one of her Dad crossing the tire bridge. Priceless.

We then continued our way along the path and stopped along the way like I usually do. I just kept it really relaxed, making sure to break up the walk with quick photos here and there. Upon arriving at the path that goes along the water we managed to get some interesting photos there.

It was then time to head back and make sure Journey, their beautiful dog wasn't left out. She was waiting patiently in the vehicle the whole session. We finished off with a few more photos including Journey and then called it a day.

As always, thanks to Angel and the rest of her family. It was a pleasure to photograph her family!

It's all about family.

With another ONWA photography session this Thursday, I couldn't help but look back at all the photos from the previous three shoots. I decided to pick some of the photos that stood out for me.

With another ONWA photography session this Thursday, I couldn't help but look back at all the photos from the previous three shoots. I decided to pick some of the photos that stood out for me. It was really hard to narrow down as all the families were so fun to photograph. I also chose to showcase them in BW, mainly because I love BW. Please feel free to follow the links below to view the blog writes of the original shoots.

ONWA (Session 1)
ONWA (Session 2)
ONWA (Session 3)

For those unaware of ONWA, it is a fantastic organization. It is a not for profit organization that was established in 1972 to empower and support Aboriginal women and their families throughout the province of Ontario. To learn more, please visit there website.

ONWA Family Portraits - Session 1

When I was first asked to photograph families for ONWA, I really didn't know what to expect. Mainly because I really didn't fully understand what ONWA was. Once I did a bit of research, I couldn't wait to get in front of all the families and start taking photos. Not only was it for a good cause but I knew it would end up being a lot of fun. Which it was.

To those of you who don't know what ONWA is, I suggest you check out there site

All in all there were 12 families. Some were bigger then others and some were simply mom and child. Regardless, they were all very easy going and great in front of the camera. Some of the kids needed to warm up to being in front of the camera, but once they did, the smiles and posing were non stop.

The 3 hours went by extremely quick, and I am already looking forward to the next photo session.
