Jenny + Family Portraits - Thunder Bay Marina

My latest family portrait session took place at the Marina on a very cold and windy Monday afternoon. Jenny and her family decided to go for a 30 minute mini session and, in a way, I don't think we could have handled any longer! With that being said, we braved the cold weather and came away with some great shots.

With that being said, we braved the cold weather and came away with some great shots.

Anytime it's really cold out I make sure to keep the session moving without being too rushed. That way everyone stays as warm as possible. Unfortunately sometimes it's just simply too cold to stay outside the whole time so we made sure to take a quick break during the session to warm up in the vehicles. Once we did, we finished off with a few portraits on the snowy docks right by the parking lot.

Jenny and her whole family were all super patient and brave considering the extreme weather. I promised them next time we do portraits, it will either be a warmer winter day or perhaps a completely different season!

Heather + Family Portraits

My latest photo session was with Heather and her family out at their house off John Street Road. They had a ton of property so we made sure to take advantage of that along with the beautiful snow covering everything. We only had 30 minutes to work with so once everyone was ready we set up in front of their old barn and used it as a wonderful backdrop. Luckily it was just nice enough where everyone could get away with not wearing jackets.

Once we were done with the barn, we used a nearby snow covered tree to get a few couple shots and then it was off to the edge of the forest. Once there it was such a picturesque scene with the snow covered trees in the background. The last photo of the day was on their old skidoo which turned out to be one of my favourite photos of the day.

Thanks to Heather and her fantastic family for letting me spend a bit of time photographing them during this Christmas Season.

Chloe Portraits

This past Friday I had the pleasure of capturing some great candid photos of Chloe. As soon as I met her, and her mom Jennifer, she was already smiling. The first location was the park just a few houses down from where they live. It was the perfect setting to let her run wild. And that she did, only stopping every so often to strike a pose. I pretty much spent the whole time following her around the playground capturing candid photos.

With the 30 minutes running down, we quickly walked across the street to the trail and got a few more photos there. Once again, Chloe was full of energy. As you can tell from the photos below, she never stopped smiling. The challenge was getting her not to smile to much. Every time we 'told' her to smile, she would open her mouth really wide. It was very cute, but in the end I did manage to get some great natural looking photos.

Thanks as always to Jennifer for choosing me to photograph Chloe. It was such a fun session!

Dao + Keith Christmas Family Portraits

When we originally planned to do this family photo session is was earlier in the season. Well, it ended up working out for the best because doing it during Christmas meant I got the chance to visit Dao and Keith's beautiful house. This session was definitely a little Christmas themed as we started the shoot right beside their huge tree while sitting on the winding stair case.

This session was definitely a little Christmas themed as we started the shoot right beside their huge tree while sitting on the winding stair case.

Once we got some great shots on the stair case we took some really fun photos on the couch. Of course, both of their dogs joined us for those ones as well. Because it was such a nice day out we spent the other half of the session outside. So, everyone got on their winter clothes and we checked out their backyard. Outdoor photos are definitely my favourite kind as it allows for a lot more freedom. The kids had fun as did Dao and Keith. Not only did we get some great family shots we also came away with some awesome individual photos too.

Thanks again to Keith, Dao and their family for inviting me into their home and letting me photograph them. They were so easy going which made for a very relaxed and extremely fun hour!
