Barbara + Darren Wedding Celebration - Springfield Farm
It was just this past summer that I photographed Darren and Barbara’s very small wedding just outside Wawa at Chippewa Falls. It was literally just them and their children, plus of course the minister, all on the rocks with the rapids flowing in the background. It was a very fun day, and one that I look back on fondly.

Since it was just them for their wedding day, they wanted to have a more formal family gathering near their hometown of Ottawa. They liked the way I captured their wedding so much that they invited me out to Ottawa to capture their day.
It ended up being at a very beautiful location on the outskirts of Ottawa called Springfield Farm. Even though it was a rainy day, that didn’t matter at all. They had all their closest family and friends there, and that is all that mattered. From the custom Star Wars cake, along with two other ones, to the beautifully decorated venue, it was a night to remember.
The highlight of the night by far, was the 80’s hair band they hired to play the barn there. Supposedly they saw them live in Ottawa and decided to ask them to play their wedding celebration. It was truly epic and an insanely fun evening of music that I grew up with. The entire crowd enjoyed, from the older crowd all the way down to the kids.
I’m so glad Barbara and Darren invited me out to Ottawa to capture such a memorable evening!
An Afternoon with Lukas
My family and I recently had a short road trip to Ottawa to visit our friend Amy and her family, including their 9 month old baby Lukas. We all couldn't get enough of him and his awesome personality. Being a professional photographer I always carry some sort of camera with me, and I knew I would be visiting with a couple different families throughout our trip so I decided to do a little photo session with Lukas.

My wife Anne and I took him outside and let him crawl around, sit by himself and a variety of other poses. He was so easy going and was essentially smiling or making faces the entire time. We only spent about 15 minutes with him outside, but the photos below just go to show you, that it doesn't take much to get some really candid photos if you know what you are doing and you work fast.
I could have easily spent another hour with him outside taking photos, but we didn't want to take steal him away for too long. Plus, I think it was about time for his meal if I remember correctly. If I learned one thing about Lukas over the few days that we were there, it's that he loves to eat, anything, as you can see from the last photo I included below.
Brett + Stef Wedding
Eganville was the setting for one of my latest weddings. It’s a small town just outside of Ottawa, Ontario. The day started at Brett and Stef’s house where I spent some time with the boys taking photos of them getting ready. I was then off to Stef’s mom’s place where we got some portraits of Stef and the family.

The ceremony was in a small church which was packed full of family and friends. Afterwards the entire wedding party went back to the house and we took some more portraits in the yard and by the lake. Lastly, we then went to the farm across the street from Brett and Stef’s place to take some more portraits. From the open field to the horse and carriage, there were plenty of opportunities for some great moments. We were also able to get a few quick photos of Brett and Stef with their horses, which after some encouragement, posed for a couple shots.
The reception was amazing. The food was great and the decorations were fun and inventive. In order to get the bride and groom to kiss, you had to rope an empty saddle. It made for some good laughs. Once the speeches were done, the live band started playing and everyone danced into the early hours. As always, thanks to Brett, Stef and both of their families for allowing me to be part of their special day. And also, making sure I was properly fed and hydrated on what must have been one of the most humid days I can remember.
