Kaylia + Emma Wedding - Kakabeka Falls

I am definitely seeing more and more small intimate weddings these days, and my latest one was with Kaylia and Emma at Kakabeka Falls. It was just them with a few of their family members. I was only there for the ceremony and some portraits afterwards, but it was more than enough time to capture a lot of great moments.

You really can’t ask for a better backdrop than the Falls. Luckily the weather held up and it was a nice overcast day. It was the perfect way to start the day, and I really do hope I keep getting the opportunity to shoot small weddings like this!

Eden + Chris Family Portraits - Kakabeka Falls

I’ve lost track how many times I have photographed Eden and Chris, but each time I do, it’s even better than the last. Add in the fact that they now have an absolutely beautiful house in Kakabeka Falls, which is simply amazing. Their son Orson, just keeps getting bigger and bigger. He pretty much dictated the whole session, which I’m completely fine with.

There was a really field out where they lived that we immediately took advantage of. After that we simply wandered around and I captured a mix of posed and candid photos. All my sessions are so laid back and I think that really speaks to the authenticity of what I do. It also helps when you have people like Eden and Chris to photography.

The only question is how soon I can photograph them again!

Classic Car Country Cruiser Night - Kakabeka Falls

This won’t be a long write up by any means, I simply wanted to share some photos from the first Classic Car show of the year in Kakabeka Falls. I love classic cars. One day I hope to own one. Until then, I will continue to photograph them and live vicariously through their owners. There are quite a few more shows coming up this summer and I’m very much looking forward to photographing some of them if I’m available.

For this show in particular, a lot of cars showed up which is always awesome. It also meant that I couldn’t always get a clean photo of a single car without something else in the frame. What I did instead for a lot of the photos, and something I do anyways, was focus more on the finer details of each car. I got in close and peered into the inside as well to see what caught my eye. Stay tuned for future posts covering other events throughout the summer. When I have more time, I’m going to try my best to do some video as well.

Heather + Family Portraits - Kakabeka Falls

Another year another portrait session with Heather and her family. It had been a while since I last had the chance to photograph everyone but with the Grandparents visiting for a bit Heather decided it was the perfect time to get some updated photos. The location this time around was Kakabeka Falls. It ended up being yet another perfect day.

Another year another portrait session with Heather and her family. It had been a while since I last had the chance to photograph everyone but with the Grandparents visiting for a bit Heather decided it was the perfect time to get some updated photos. The location this time around was Kakabeka Falls. It ended up being yet another perfect day.

As soon as I arrived, I could see the excitement amongst all 3 boys. They were definitely ready to get some portraits done and Heather mentioned to me that they had been asking to do so for quite some time. We started the session on the other end of the park where the the benches are and made our way around that area after that. I just made sure to keep things moving because it's hard enough to hold on to the attention span of 3 energetic young boys. I was amazed that I still came away with photos of them all smiling at the same time and not just making faces at me.

Kakabeka Falls has so many great little spots to stop and take pictures and we took advantage of a few of them. I also made sure to get some wide angle photos of the Falls in the background. Those were some of my favourites. But, to be honest, when I just let the kids do their thing and run around, those are some of the best photos from the session.

I have photographed Heather and her family a few times now and I can't wait until the next session. It's really special watching the boys grow up each year and document at least a part of their life along the way.
