Sarah Graduation Session
Sarah graduated earlier this year, but it’s never too late to do graduation photos. That’s exactly what we did yesterday, and the photos turned out amazing, especially with the Fall colours still hanging around. We started in downtown Port Arthur for some quick urban style photos, against the amazing artwork on Cooke Street.

It was then off to the Marina for some more nature oriented photos. Even though her boyfriend couldn’t make it, Sarah still brought her amazing rescue dog Tank. I love photographing animals, especially dogs, and Tank was no exception. He had so much personality and behaved perfectly when tied up for brief moments.
I couldn’t have asked for a more fun session. Congratulations to Sarah on the Graduation!
Jake + Brittany Portraits - Tree Farm
Now that the cold weather is here, it’s a bit tougher to plan outdoor portrait sessions, but we managed to just do that this past Saturday at the Tree Farm. Jake and Brittany, and of course their beautiful dog, Molson, joined me for a 30 minute session. It was just enough to time to do a a short walk around the farm and capture some memorable moments along the way.

Jake and Brittany were a tiny bit nervous because it was their first portrait session but they had nothing to worry about. They were so natural in front of the camera as you can see from the photos below. Molson on the other hand didn’t want to stop long enough to get a proper portrait. Suffice it to say, I had to be quick when getting photos of him. The only way we were able to get him to sit for a couple group shots was with the treats.
Even though it was cold, Jake and Brittany were so patient and easy going. I had blast photographing them and I just love how the photos turned out.
Josie + Dan Engagement - Tree Farm
Next month I have the pleasure of photographing Josie and Dan's Wedding but in the meantime, we got out and did their engagement session at the Tree Farm. I've said it many posts before this, but it is by far one of the prettiest locations in town. When you combine that with an amazing couple, you are pretty much guaranteed beautiful photos. That is exactly what we came away with. It also helped that they brought along their dog 'Buddy'. I just love photographing animals, especially dogs.

It was an hour session but we got a lot accomplished in that time. As with most of my sessions, it's just casual and natural. It was as if we were just going for a walk together and stopping along the way to take some photos. I of course directed Josie and Dan a bit, but otherwise I just let them interact which made things a bit more candid.
In the end, this session just made me that much more excited for the wedding next month. Be sure to check back in the coming months to see how those photos turned out!
Eden + Chris Portraits - Current River Park
Back in 2015 I photographed Eden and Chris's wedding at Current River Park so it was only fitting that Eden suggested we do the portrait session there. This time around they had a new addition to the family and they also brought their dog as well. I had my hands full for sure but it ended up being such a fun and spontaneous session. The weather couldn't have been better and Eden and Chris where completely natural in front of the camera. I'm very much looking forward to a future session in the near future!

Lauren + Kyle Family Portraits
My mini sessions always go by so fast, but they are always packed with so much fun. Such was the case with Lauren and Kyle and their family. Not only did they bring their new baby but they also brought their dog as well. It was the first time photographing a dog in the studio so that was great to do as well.

The session itself was very easy going and even though Lauren and Kyle had never really done a studio session before, they were complete naturals. I barely had to tell them what to do, which made the photos that much better. We even managed to get a couple photos of Tyler in his firefighters uniform!
I am so thankful I got to spend 30 minutes with Lauren and her beautiful family.
Min + Family Portraits - Hutton Park Drive
So, not only was it really nice out this past weekend but I was lucky enough to have a bunch of family portrait sessions. The first of which was Min and her wonderful family. I'm often asked to choose a location for a shoot but this time around, Min had a really cool secluded location just off of Hutton Park Drive. To be honest, I really haven't had the chance to explore around that area to much, so I was anxious to see what she had found.

As soon as we arrived at the spot, I knew it was the perfect location. We followed the trail into the forest and immediately there were some great spots to work with. There were old planks of wood covered in moss, some cylindrical stones and of course plenty of trees and high grass.
ne of the first photos I was able to get was Charlotte carrying her basket down the trail. From there we all just wandered around a bit and stopped to capture some photos along the way. I always kept my open for perfect little spots and there were plenty to go around.
A question I am constantly asked if it is ok to bring the family dog(s) along for the session I always encourage it. After all, they are part of the family and why wouldn't you want them there with you. I just love taking photos of animals, especially dogs. It may not always be easy to get them to stand still for very long, but in this case, Shelby did an amazing dog. Plus, when she wasn't posing for the camera she was running up and down the trail smelling everything in site.
All in all it was such a fun session at such an unexpected location. Thanks to Min, her husband Brooke and the rest of the family for a great time.
Angel + Family Portraits - Boulevard Lake
Wow, what another great portrait session. Luckily this time the weather was much nicer so I was able to photograph Angie and her family outside at Boulevard Lake. Once I arrived I noticed just how much snow we have had over the past while. The good news was that the trails were cleared so it made for easy walking.

As I met up with Angel and her family in the parking lot I noticed a pickup truck, a rope and father and daughter getting their skis on. Low and behold, shortly thereafter the truck pulled away with the two people getting pulled by the truck. It was definitely a sight to see and one that would lead into a very fun portrait session.
One of our first stops on the session was the playground located right by the parking lot. Angel and her entire family were very accommodating and willing to climb around a bit. Angel had a couple great suggestions for spots to get shots and they turned out fantastic. One of my favourite photos of the day was by far the one of her Dad crossing the tire bridge. Priceless.
We then continued our way along the path and stopped along the way like I usually do. I just kept it really relaxed, making sure to break up the walk with quick photos here and there. Upon arriving at the path that goes along the water we managed to get some interesting photos there.
It was then time to head back and make sure Journey, their beautiful dog wasn't left out. She was waiting patiently in the vehicle the whole session. We finished off with a few more photos including Journey and then called it a day.
As always, thanks to Angel and the rest of her family. It was a pleasure to photograph her family!
Amy + David Portraits
Last year I had the pleasure of photographing Amy and David's wedding. It was such a blast. I then got to work with Amy on a gorgeous wedding album. Just as we were finishing that up she mentioned that she wanted to get some portrait photos while she was pregnant. Well, fast forward to last weekend and that is exactly what we did. The backdrop was Jumbo Gardens which is a not so well known place in Port Arthur. Even around this time of year with most of the colours gone, it is still a fantastic place to take photos. There are lots of nice trails and trees there.

Along with Amy and David, we had another member of the family joining us, Oliver. I don't think he stopped running the entire time we were there. But, when it was time for a photo he ran up on cue and posed for the camera every time. It was actually quite amazing.
This session was a lot of fun as I knew it would be. Amy and David are extremely easy going and awesome to work with. We did some serious photos as well as some playful ones as you can see from the set below. One of my favourite photos of the session was one of the last ones. As we were walking back to the parking lot I noticed a big hole in one of the fences. So, I got Amy to stand behind it and pretend her pregnant stomach somehow burst through the fence. It is kind of a silly photo but those spontaneous one are sometimes a lot of fun.
Thank you to Amy and David for another great time taking photos. I can't wait to potentially photograph the new addition to the family.
Steph + Brent Engagement
Steph and Brent's wedding isn't until next year but we decided to do the engagement this year while the weather is beautiful. Boy did we have a really nice day to work with. The location for this session was at Steph's Aunts house off of the highway. As soon as I got there I can see it was going to be a wonderful location to work with.

Upon my arrival I was greater by Charlie, their very energetic dog. I then met Brent for the first time who I can see was a bit unsure how things were going to play out that day. Seeing as how this was his first engagement session. Once the introductions were done we made our way to the side of the property where there was a nice stable for horses as well as a couple other great areas.
Usually with couples that I photograph for the first time I like to get that first photo out of the way. It helps get them more comfortable behind the camera. We did just that. There was a nice little wood pile by the stable that we took advantage. Then it was off to the tree covered area. You can see it from the highway but you don't realize how awesome it is until you are actually within the trees. We spent about 15 minutes in there and came away with so many good photos. I even managed to get a couple of Charlie standing still for a moment here and there.
As we came out of the forest I noticed one tree in the middle of an open field so we took some photos there. Steph then mentioned that the driveway leading up the house was long and covered with leaves. Well, we couldn't pass that up so I got both Steph and Brent to go about half way down and just interact with one another while I took some natural candid photos.
We finished the session by with these old iron chairs on the lawn. Not only were they heavy but they were beautiful. Those last few were some of my favourite photos of the day. I simply can't wait until the wedding especially seeing how easy and fun it was working with Steph and Brent. Thanks again to both of them for a splendid engagement session.
As you may have seen in previous posts I am now also including specially processed vintage style photographs. Here are a few I did for this particular session.
Albany + Sophie + Ziggy Portraits
Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Albany, Sophie and the newest addition to the family … Ziggy. He is quite possibly one of the cutest puppies I have ever met. Plus, he was quite the little model. The location for this very fun photo shoot was at a park just off Valley Street.

It was my first time taking photos there, and I will definitely be using it again. The hour went by extremely fast because we were walking the entire time with random stops here and there when we saw an interesting spot. It really kept the photos spontaneous and fun. It also helped that both Albany and Sophie continually had suggestions for photos. You could say that everyone contributed in their own way. And lets not forget about Ziggy. He was the main reason we were out there on that beautiful Sunday evening. When he wasn't chasing after me he was sitting relatively still for a nice pose.
Overall it was one of my favourite sessions of the year. Thanks to the girls for being so perfect behind the camera!
