Kimberly + Family Portraits
Kimberly and her family invited me out to their house in the country to capture some portraits of everyone and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to do so. The drive out there was beautiful and once I pulled into the driveway and saw the house I was amazed how beautiful it was too! I knocked on the door and was greeted by Kimberly. Everyone was just finishing up getting ready so I used those few minutes to scope out the property and look for interesting backdrops which was definitely very easy to come by.

Right off the bat I was greeted by Teddy, their dog, and he gave a personal guided tour with a stick in his mouth. As I checked out the property I played with him a bit and got some good initial photos. I could photograph animals all day if I had the chance, so I had a blast capturing photos of him throughout the session.
Once everyone made their way outside, we headed to the backyard amongst the tall trees. Did I mention how beautiful Kimberly’s property was yet? They were such a fun family to photograph. I always use a sense of humour when I take photos and they were all right on point with me. It made for a super relaxed atmosphere. We spent most of the time in the backyard but I did want to make sure I got some photos in front of the wood shed as well. It had a lot of character and some of my favourite photos came from that area. One of them being Kimberly posing with Teddy.
Lastly, we got one last group photo on the deck overlooking the backyard. After that I was done! It was such a fun session and I love going to families homes and spending some time getting to know them and hopefully capturing some memories that will last them the rest of their lives.
ONWA Family Portraits - Christmas
Earlier in the week I did one of my recurring portrait sessions at ONWA. This time around there were 4 families which ended up being plenty. It allowed a bit more time for each family which resulted in even more photos than usual. Seeing as how it was pretty cold out, we decided to just set up indoors. As much as I love how the outdoor photos turn out, it just made much more sense to do it inside, especially with the families with babies.

Luckily ONWA still had their backdrop up from their Poetry Night which I photographed as well. So I just had to worry about bringing some of my studio lights. Once I set up we were off the races. There were actually a few families I hadn’t photographed before so that’s always great to see. As usual, I think everyone had a lot of fun and shows in the photos. Even the little ones behaved for the most part. Although, it was tough at times propping them up on the chair and not having them slide down slowly! We made it work though.
I’m very much looking forward to the next session in the Spring, and I hope the weather is much warmer by then.
Amanda + Serge + Norah - Christmas Portraits
I am planning to run an ugly sweater portrait special very soon so what better way to get some promo photos for it then to ask our close friends Amanda and Serge and of course Norah to model for me. I have photographed them outside a few times so this was the first time I was able to get them into the studio. Norah was ready to go from the beginning. I could have easily photographed her for a couple hours.

After the hour session was done we ended up with about 40 final photos. These are some of my favourite photos from the session. I’m hoping to get some more family’s in the studio in the coming week(s). So if any of you are reading this and you have an ugly Christmas sweater (or just a normal one), don’t hesitate to contact me to book a session.
Darla + Family Portraits
This was my second session with Darla and her amazing family. It's always nice going into a family's home during the holidays and capturing some genuine moment. Especially when kids are involved, you never quite know what to expect. There was also a new addition to the family this year as you can see from the photos below.

I decided to do the group photos in front of the fireplace which made for the perfect backdrop. Aside from those posed photos, the rest of the session was simply walking around and getting some candid photos. We weren't able to get any outdoor photos this time around because of the cold weather, but there is talk of a summer session later this year, which I am very excited for.
Thanks as always to Darla and her family to inventing me into their home this holiday season!
Baby Levon
My wife's friend Amy recently had a baby and his name is Levon. He is probably one of the most easy going and calm babies I have ever met. This made the photo session with him the other day pretty easy. Our biggest challenge was just keeping him upright for some of the photos! I admittedly don't do too much newborn photography but it is definitely something enjoy and am currently looking at adding on to my existing services.

The good thing about newborn photography is that you really don't need that much space. We had a few backdrops and some various props. Amy brought a few different outfits to the shoot along with a couple of different objects that were special to her and her family. From there we just had fun dressing Levon up and taking photos. At one point, our one cat decided to investigate and I think I think it ended up being a great spontaneous photo.
Of course, because Christmas is just around the corner, we made sure to get a few decorative photos in there was well. All in all it was such a fun session and I'm glad we were able to squeeze in this session before Levon grows anymore! Thanks to Amy and her family for letting me photograph the little guy.
Dao + Keith Christmas Family Portraits
When we originally planned to do this family photo session is was earlier in the season. Well, it ended up working out for the best because doing it during Christmas meant I got the chance to visit Dao and Keith's beautiful house. This session was definitely a little Christmas themed as we started the shoot right beside their huge tree while sitting on the winding stair case.

Once we got some great shots on the stair case we took some really fun photos on the couch. Of course, both of their dogs joined us for those ones as well. Because it was such a nice day out we spent the other half of the session outside. So, everyone got on their winter clothes and we checked out their backyard. Outdoor photos are definitely my favourite kind as it allows for a lot more freedom. The kids had fun as did Dao and Keith. Not only did we get some great family shots we also came away with some awesome individual photos too.
Thanks again to Keith, Dao and their family for inviting me into their home and letting me photograph them. They were so easy going which made for a very relaxed and extremely fun hour!
Brittney, Adam + Chase Portraits
It was definitely a busy weekend filled with some Christmas portrait sessions. The first one was with my niece Brittney, her boyfriend Adam and their lively 2 year old son Chase.

Right from the moment they came through the door, Chase was full of energy. He did not stop for more then a few seconds during the full hour and a half! When he did slow down he was a master of many faces. The stuffed animals did not stand a chance and my backdrop was almost pulled down more then a few times.
It was all worth it though as we all had a great time and came up with some truly unique and memorable photos.
