Brittney + Family Portraits - Trow Bridge
It’s always fun to photograph family. My niece Brittney wanted some new photos of her three kids, so I of course found some time to do so. Brittney hadn’t been to Trow Bridge since high school so it was the perfect spot. Plus, it allowed the kids to just run around and have fun. Let’s just say the majority of the photos were candids. All in all, it was a super fun session. Any chance I get to hangout with family is more than welcome.

Brittney + Adam Family Session - Hillcrest Park
As I have mentioned in previous blog posts I always enjoy portraits sessions where family is involved. This time around it was with my niece Brittney, her husband Adam and the rest of their family. We decided on Hillcrest Park later in the evening and we couldn't have asked for a better day for portraits. The weather was perfect and the sun slowly setting in the sky, so the lighting was ideal.

The session itself was very casual and I kind of just rolled with the punches. Anytime kids are involved you really have no choice. Luckily everyone was great and it made for some really good 'posed' photos along with a lot of candids. I had a great time spending time the whole family and I can't wait to do it again.
Brittney + Adam Family Portraits - The Cascades
I always enjoy photographing my niece Brittney and her family. This time around we chose the Cascades as the location for our session and it turned out being perfect weather. It was also a special occasion, as Brittney is due in the coming weeks with her third child. So she also wanted a few maternity photos as well.
As soon as we arrived, Chase and Kayden were off to the races, running around. I'm used to it though, as it is consistent with what they normally do each session .. which I love by the way. I would much rather have that energy then them just sitting there looking at me.

I was able to mix in some posed shots were they stayed still for more then a few seconds and also a lot of great candid photos. As is the case with most brothers, Kayden would often copy what Chase was doing. That included grabbing his own walking stick, albeit smaller, just like Chase did when we first arrived. We also had some fun in the leaves which resulted in Chase and Kayden completely covering Brittney in leaves. That's what we get for starting that I guess though.
Every session I do with them is always fun and this one was no different. I can't wait to meet and photograph the newest addition to the family!
Brittney + Adam Wedding
When my niece Brittney asked me to photograph her and Adam's wedding I obviously said yes. After all, how often will I get to photograph a family member's wedding. Plus, it also meant I would be surrounded by a lot of family which would make the day that much more fun, and relaxed. My day began at the ceremony which took place at Lakeview Presbyterian Church.
As guests arrived I walked around and got my usual candid photos and then before I knew it the ceremony was set to begin. Shooting in a dark church can often be a bit of a challenge but this church actually had fairly good lighting. I was sure to stay behind the scenes and keep it discreet all while getting some good natural moments of Brittney and Adam, as well as the guests and wedding party.

Once the ceremony was done everyone gathered outside for a short while and then it was off to the Marina to do all the family portraits. It was mid September when the wedding too place so the weather was perfect. We moved through the portraits at a good pace and also got a chance to get some portraits of just Adam and Brittney by the arch. The next stop was Waverly Park with just the wedding party. We started right at the front of get school. It's such an epic looking building so it's quite easy to get some dramatic shots. My favourite was the one with Brittney and Adam on the stairs in the wide angle shot.
We then moved on down to the park area to get some good group photos as well as some individual ones of Brittney and Adam. From this part of the session I just loved the photo of Brittney and Adam sitting on the bench, just showing their feet. It's little details like that, that I love focusing on sometimes. It's easy to always take photos of the whole body but I always try and slow down and focus on some of the finer details as well.
It was then time for the reception which took place at the Valhalla Inn. The reception was a ton of fun, especially since I was able to sit at the same table as my wife Anne, but also, I was surrounded by so much close family and relatives. The highlight of the ceremony was definitely when all the guests were invited to tie a balloon to their ankle and try and pop everyone else's before theirs was. It was a lot of fun and everyone was laughing and running around.
It was so great being a part a family wedding like this. I was honoured to take photos of people I already knew and a lot of people I was meeting for the first time. From my point of view it looked like Brittney and Adam had fun the entire time and I just hope I was able to capture some of those special moments.
Brittney + Adam + Chase - Thunder Bay Marina
Well, it was too long ago that I photographed Brittney and her family. During that shoot, it was a reveal that she was pregnant. We had a great time. If you would like to check that session out, here you go. This time around Brittney is just about ready to bring a new addition to the family. Before it was too late, we decided to get some 'maternity' photos outdoors, at the Marina again. We both thought it was a fitting location, seeing as how thats' where she first announced it.

As soon as they arrived, Chase, decided to do a full on sprint around the skating rink. You would think he would slow down a bit after that, but no, he went non stop for the rest of the session. He did, however, stop here and there to give us some photo opportunities. Just like the last session, we kept this one fun and spontaneous, never staying in one spot too long.
Next up will most likely be some photos once the baby arrives which I can't wait for!
Brittney + Adam + Chase Portraits
It's always fun when I get the chance to photograph family. This time around I had a portrait session with Brittney, Adam and of course Chase, who is growing up way to fast. I had photographed Adam and Brittney earlier in the year for their engagement photos. This time around we did the entire family. The other reason for this session was to celebrate and reveal the fact that they Brittney and Adam are expecting another addition to the family.

For the engagement we did the photos at the Cascades. We decided on the Marina for this particular shoot. It was another great day for photographs with the weather cooperating and the colours still hanging around a bit. Chase was his usual self. Asking questions every chance he could but also being free natural in front of the camera. It was a very laid back session and I think the photos reflect that. My favourite photo of the day was Chase holding a photo of the ultrasound. Very cute. Congratulations again to Brittney and Adam. I'm so happy for them.
Brittney + Adam Engagement - Cascades
Once I heard my niece Brittney got engaged I hoped she called upon me to shoot their engagement photos. Luckily she did! I always find it very fun and rewarding to photograph family members. Plus, it's usually a laid back and easy going session. This one was no different, and the location in this case was the Cascades Provincial Park in Thunder Bay.

Just like any other session we started it off by just walking and getting caught up. Then I slowly started taking photos of the two of them. As they got more comfortable behind the camera, which didn't take long at all, we stopped at different parts of the trail. We ultimately made it down to the cascades. Once there, we managed to get some of my favourite photos of the day.
We then made our way back along the trail, taking some fun photos along the way. Once we got back to the parking lot I spotted a pretty cool little area with some trees as well as a nice open field with tall grass. Thanks to Brittney and Adam for a wonderful session, I had a ton of fun.
Brittney, Adam + Chase Portraits
It was definitely a busy weekend filled with some Christmas portrait sessions. The first one was with my niece Brittney, her boyfriend Adam and their lively 2 year old son Chase.

Right from the moment they came through the door, Chase was full of energy. He did not stop for more then a few seconds during the full hour and a half! When he did slow down he was a master of many faces. The stuffed animals did not stand a chance and my backdrop was almost pulled down more then a few times.
It was all worth it though as we all had a great time and came up with some truly unique and memorable photos.
