I was blown away by the immense talent on display at the show. There were even some interactive pieces which were very cool. The show is still going on until June 4th, so if you live in Thunder Bay, be sure to stop by and check it out!

I had the pleasure of capturing the recent RetroGraduate X2 Exhibition at Definitely Superior Art Gallery this past weekend. It was comprised of artworks from the Major Studio Graduates of 2019 and 2020 from a four year period of their program. A wide range of works including paintings, drawings, ceramics, sculptures and multimedia were on display. There were also two different DJ’s spinning unique mixes, fresh food provided by Red Lion Smokehouse and coffee by St. Paul Roastery!

It was such an amazing event, and I was so glad to be a part of it.

I’m so thankful that I get to continually photograph and in the process, participate in so many wonderful events and causes put on by ONWA. The theme of the event was local indigenous women’s leadership through artwork, stories and digital storytelling. The purpose of the project is to create Indigenous-informed learning material for educators and students with a focus on Ojibwe women from the Robinson Superior region. Storytelling is fundamental for passing on knowledge, culture and language for future generations to learn, create meaningful engagements and honour their ancestors.

If you would like to learn more about ONWA and this particular event, I encourage you to head on over to their Facebook Page or Website. Please have a look at some of the highlights from the event below.
