Fort William First Nation - 6th Annual Hide Tanning Camp
Here are some highlights from the FWFN 6th Annual Hide Tanning Camp that took place over 5 days at Chippewa Park. This week-long, hands-on cultural experience is rooted in community, learning, and connection. Activities include hide tanning, Anishinaabemowin language sessions, campfire cooking, yoga, art, tool-making, storytelling, and more — guided by knowledge keepers and skilled mentors.

I had the pleasure of photographing some amazing work by local artist - Justine Gustafson. After learning that she would be receiving the Ontario Arts Foundation Elizabeth L. Gordon Art Program Acquisition Grant for her original shoulder bag inspired by the artists powerful connection to water, she asked me to come by her studio and photograph some of the process.
