Janine + Steven Wedding - Old Fort William
Admittedly, I truly don't know what to expect with each and every wedding I do. Yes, there are always going to be similar parts to the day through each wedding but sometimes, there are those brief moments during the day that just catch you off guard, and often for the better. Well, this wedding provided one of those moments as soon as I arrived. As I parked my car and I was grabbing my stuff I heard distant music in the background. I didn't really think anything of it, I just thought it was part of the wedding music. Then, it got louder, and louder still. All of a sudden I had a flashback of the Karate Kid. Before I knew it, there it was, an old camper streaming down the road, arms waving out the windows, blaring the following lyrics..

You’re the best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You’re the Best!

You’re the Best!

Nothing’s gonna ever keep you dow-ow-ow-ow-own
It was just such a surreal moment that I wasn't quite sure that what I was seeing was actually real. It was. Oh, it was. Then it parked in front of the entrance and the all the groomsmen and Steven walked out of the vehicle. My first though was that I needed to get a photo of them in front of the camper. And that's exactly what I did. There you have it, the first photo of the day. That set the tone for the rest of the wedding day and what a day it was.
Once I got that cheesy 80's song out of my head I focused on the task at hand. And that was to capture Janine and Steven's day. Everyone gathered on the balcony shortly thereafter and that is where I started getting a lot of great candids. This was a unique wedding in that Steven and Janine did their portraits before the ceremony. So they actually met on the balcony not to long after Steven and the gang arrived.
The minute everyone was good to go and tall the family members arrived, we took the shuttle bus to the Fort to do the family portraits. I absolutely love doing the portraits before the ceremony because it's not as rushed and it leaves a lot more time to get more photos. Plus, when you are at a location like Old Fort William, you can't help but not want to spend a couple hours there.
There are so many wonderful spots there so I simply chose a nice wall in the shade to work and we were off to the races. That way everyone can stay in one spot and just switch out for the required groupings. After getting all the family photos out of the way we then focused on some of the wedding party photos in the same location. From there, I decided to use a different backdrop for the bridesmaids and Janine. Another great thing about the Fort is that the wall surrounding it is gorgeous. So we were able to get some great shots using the wall too.
It was then off to where the barn and animals were. My favourite moment of the day (aside from the grand entrance by the boys) happened as we were walking to where the animals were. Everyone was greeted by a herd of goats. Well, as Janine leaned down to pet one, he decided to use her bouquet for lunch. I managed to get a few shots in sequence showing the incident. It was so priceless and everyone had a great laugh.
We finished up there and eventually headed back to the shuttle to head back to the ceremony where everyone was waiting. It was about 45 minutes in between so it gave me a lot of time to get photos of guests interacting and arriving. Then it was time. The wedding party made their way to the alter and ceremony took place. All in all it took about 30 minutes or so and it was very beautiful. I just love turning around, facing the crowd, and seeing so many smiles and raw emotion.
When the ceremony was all done Janine and Steven wanted to spend a little more time getting some portraits on the trail so that's what we did. It was the perfect time to do so as the sun was low in the sky which made for perfect lighting. Plus it gave them both a chance to be 'almost' alone with one another. After about 20 minutes we head back to the reception area.
That was pretty much it for me. I spent another 1.5 hours photographing guests, the introductions, getting some great detail shots, the first dance and eventually some of the first speeches. As with most weddings, I'm always amazed at just how many great little moments there are throughout the day and it's up to me to document these moments so Janine and Steven can remember them for the rest of their life. Thank you to both Janine and Steven for a fantastic day!
Annette + Andrew Wedding - This Old Barn
With wedding season just about over, I'm now able to catch up on weddings from the past month. The first one I'm proud to post is Annette and Andrew's. They quite possibly chose one of the most unique and beautiful locations I have had the pleasure to photograph, This Old Barn. The backdrop for the wedding, with the hay bales and fields was so picturesque. As soon as I arrived at the wedding I quickly started grabbing photos of the decorations and eventually people as they arrived. The rest of the day went by so fast, but I managed to get so many great photos.

It was a relatively small and intimate wedding which is always fun to photograph. As I mentioned in a previous post, this allows me to get even more photos of guests and moments between them. Not that I can't do that with larger weddings, but when the crowd is much smaller it's just that much easier to get in close. As people arrived, I got a ton of good candid photos and I also peeked in once in a while to see how Annette was doing. Overall, it was a very relaxed wedding and no one seemed nervous at all.
Once it was time for Annette to make her way down the isle, everyone smiled as she did so. Andrew was of course beaming and there were tears of joy in the crowd as well. The ceremony was really nice and there were some truly genuine moments. When photographing during the ceremony I always look for reactions in the crowd. Those sometimes end up being some of the best photos of the day.
After the ceremony was over, there was a quick congratulations inside from everybody and then it was off to the fields for all the formal family portraits. It was almost impossible not to walk away with fantastic photos seeing as how the backdrop was just perfect. We took advantage of the wide open field and the hay bales. When we finished the family photos we had some fun with just the bridal party. One of my favourite photos of the entire day was when Andrew tried to jump up on the hay. Let's just say he came up short the first time. I will say this, they were quite big. I don't even think I would have been able to make the leap.
The next stop for the bridal party portraits was at the top of the hill. It overlooked Mount McKay and also, the wide open field with which we just came from. Not only did I get in close on a lot of the portraits, I also made sure to step back quite a bit and get some nice expansive photos that show off just how huge the property was.
We then made our way back to the main area and mingled for a bit. I just love this part of the day because everyone is just so relaxed. I was able to snap a few more photos of Annette and Andrew along with a lot of candid photos. Before we knew it, it was time for the reception. What I liked about the reception was that it was split up nice. Everyone ate, then there was a break to wander outside, then some speeches, and another break. Eventually it was time for the 'pie' cutting. I didn't count but I believe there were at least 10 different homemade pies. I'm sure it was more. I'm not one for sweets, as my wife would attest to, but I had a slice of pumpkin and blueberry. Both were fantastic. Of course the whole layout of the pies was beautiful as well. From what Annette told me, she handled the decorations for the whole wedding.
During some of those breaks, I always made sure to follow the guest outside and there were no shortage of request for quick family portraits. Something I have been doing at some of my recent weddings is bringing my little Instax Polaroid printer. I use my Fuji X-T1 and print directly from it. I can't stress enough how popular it is. Once people see and hold the little polaroid in their hand and watch it magically expose in front of their eyes, they alway tell other family members and friends. Before I know it, I'm getting multiple requests.
As it got darker, it was time for the first dance. Everything was lit up beautifully and with the guest gathering around watching, it made for the perfect first dance. After that they had the parent dances and eventually the guests. And then my night was over. I am still amazed at how many photos I came away with. Annette and Andrew were the perfect couple to photograph as they did anything I told them to. If I had an idea for a photo that I wanted to try, they did it without hesitation. Having such an easy going and kind couple to photograph made my job that much easier. Thank you!
Paul + Tracy Wedding - Kakabeka Falls
Last week, I had the opportunity to photograph a last minute wedding. I literally found out about 4 day prior. While I was shooting my niece, Brittney and her husband Adam's wedding, my brother asked if I could photograph his visiting relative's wedding. Of course, once I found out I had the time available I immediately said yes. Next thing you know, 4 days later, I was at Kakabeka Falls celebrating and shooting another wedding.

Paul and Tracy were the wonderful couple I was hired to photograph. They are both actually from London so it was kind of a unique wedding. As you can see from the photos the ceremony was very small, just the closest relatives. I love these intimate weddings as it allows me to focus more on individuals because there are less people then normal.
The ceremony started about 30 minutes after I arrived which gave me a chance to get some preparation shots as well as capture some of the nervous energy. Once the ceremony began, it was very beautiful. You really couldn't ask for a better backdrop then Kakabeka Falls. Plus, it was an absolute gorgeous day for a wedding.
After the ceremony was over, I quickly grabbed Paul and Tracy and we walked down the boardwalk a bit to focus on some portraits. All in all, we spent about 20 minutes doing so, but came away with a lot of wonderful photos. We then ended with all the family portraits which was very fun as well. Everyone was extremely easy going and just there to have a good time.
It was a pleasure to meet Paul and Tracy and be a part of their wedding. If you told me I would be photographing a visiting couple from England earlier this year I probably would have laughed. That is why I love wedding photography so much, you just never know who you are going to get the opportunity to photograph!
Brent + Steph Wedding
What can I say about Brent and Steph's wedding day. It was such a blast and the day went by so very fast. I couldn't have asked for a more fun couple to photograph. Plus their entire wedding party along with the family were equally as fun and easy going. There were a ton of moments that I was able to capture and you can see a bunch of them below. But first, a little about my experience from the day.

Plus their entire wedding party along with the family were equally as fun and easy going. There were a ton of moments that I was able to capture and you can see a bunch of them below. But first, a little about my experience from the day.
My part of the day started at the Marina with the guys anxiously awaiting the guests to arrive. The ceremony took place at the Spirit Garden which is such a lovely location. It took about 20 minutes for the guests to start arriving so that gave the guys some time to loosen up with some drinks. Plus it was a pretty hot day so of course it was important to stay 'hydrated'.
In that time I simply walked around and just documented the guys interacting and talking. It also gave me a chance to scout the location, even though I have been there many times before. Although, this would be my first wedding to photograph there.
Once the guests started to arrive Brent snuck away for a while so he could spend some time to himself. The rest of the guys helped seat the guests and greet people. I think that is the way it should be and it was a great idea. I was able to get a whole bunch of candid photos of the guests arriving and mingling. Especially some with the kids as well.
Just before it was time for Steph to approach the area I hurried over to the path in behind the Spirit Garden to get some shots of those anxious moments. One of my favourite photos of the entire day was of Steph and her Dad just slightly peeking over the hill. It was only a split second but it's photos like that, that I absolutely always look for. And then just like that everyone took their seat and it was time for the girls and eventually Steph to make their way down the isle.
It all happened quite fast but I'm sure it felt like slow motion for Brent. With the Marina one side of the and all the guests on the other, Brent and Steph said their vows. It was a very beautiful ceremony and looking at the reactions of the guests, and often an emotional one. He would later get teased for it, but Brent had a few moments as well. I learned that this would happen on multiple occasions throughout the night. And there is nothing wrong with that. I think I even had tears a couple times on my wedding day.
Once the ceremony was over, everyone spent some time congratulating the newly wed couple. It was then off to the back part of the marina that overlooks Lake Superior. This is where I suggested we do the family portraits. It ended up being the perfect location as it wasn't very far from where the ceremony was and there was a nice low brick wall that everyone was able to stand in front of. With the Lake in the background it was the perfect backdrop.
We finished up there and then made our way back to the Spirit Garden to get some group photos as well as shots of Brent and Steph. The backdrop here was fantastic to work with as we used the logs on the hill. I also decided to take advantage of the chairs from the wedding that were still set up. It was then off to the central part of the marina to get some more portraits of the wedding party. It goes without saying that there are always going to be formal portraits, but everyone made sure to still have fun with and the result as some very natural looking portraits.
The gang then jumped back on the bus and before we made our way to Vickers Park, they made a pitstop at the liquor store. Yes, the liquor store. Hey, when you run out of drinks you gotta do something about it. Suffice it to say, I followed them in and was actually able to get a few good photos of them inside. Then.... it was off to Vickers Park for some more portraits. Not only was the weather awesome for their wedding, warm and cloudy, but Vickers Park was very green and the trees looked amazing. So that is what we used as a backdrop, the trees.
Some of the best photos of the day happened at Vickers Park. My favourite from this portion of the wedding was one of the group shots. I had Brent and Steph move forward about 10 feet in front of the rest of the group so that I can isolate them yet still see everyone else in the background. On my cue everyone was supposed to jump behind them as Brent and Steph kissed. It was great the first time around but just to be safe I got then to do it one more time. Well, the second time around, the girls jumped but the boys didn't, they just pointed and laughed. It was just such a priceless and spontaneous moment which I loved.
It was then eventually off to the Victoria Inn for the reception. I made sure to show up about 30 minutes early to get some photos of the decor and details. I have shot a few reception in the same ballroom but I'm always amazed how different and beautiful it looks each time I do it. Brent and Steph did an amazing job making it their own. As the guests arrived I continued to get my usual candid photos. Eventually dinner was served and the speeches began. I was able to get some good emotional moments from some of the guests and a bunch from the wedding party. And yes, I believe shed a few more tears at the reception, and there is nothing wrong with that!
After a nice photo slideshow which documented Brent and Steph's life, it was then time for the first dance. With all the guests watching on it was very sweet seeing Brent and Steph do their first dance. You could tell that they didn't even notice all the people around them watching on. Steph then had a dance with her father and Brent with his mom. The band then started up and everyone else joined in. Along with the guests dancing I was able to get a few good shots of the Steph and her grandfather dancing too. It was a very special moment. The cake cutting was the last thing to take care of and then my day was done.
As I mentioned earlier, it was a pleasure being a part of Brent and Steph's special day. There are too many favourite moments to mention which says a lot about the entire day. Just like I always do I would like to thank both of them for choosing me to document their wedding. I couldn't be happier with all the great photos I came away with and I just hope they like them as much as I do!
Before heading down to all the photos, check out 7 of my favourites converted to my vintage style. These are included in every wedding I shoot and each one is completely unique from the next. It's not everyone's cup of tea but for those who like this kind of treatment might think it's pretty cool!

Darlene + David Wedding
There are still a lot more weddings I can look forward to photographing this year but Darlene and David’s was one that couldn’t come soon enough, for a couple reasons. The first one being that it was at Old Fort William which is one of the nicest locations in town. Secondly, upon first meeting them prior to the wedding, I knew it was going to be a very intimate and fun wedding. Well, it met both those criteria and exceeded beyond what I expected. I arrived, as I always do, about 30 minutes before the wedding to capture some unique and candid photos. With guests constantly arriving, mingling and taking their seats, there were definitely lots of opportunities for photos.

I arrived, as I always do, about 30 minutes before the wedding to capture some unique and candid photos. With guests constantly arriving, mingling and taking their seats, there were definitely lots of opportunities for photos.
The ceremony took place just in behind the main building right by the pond. This is where almost all the weddings usually take place and there is a good reason why. It is beautiful. As everyone waited for Darlene to make her way down the aisle, David and his best man along with other family members waited down the paved path. As people showed up they said hello and even got a chance to talk a bit with David. It was kind of nice to have it set up like that, where David is able to interact with everyone who wanted to, before thew wedding. The wedding didn’t start on time, which is often the case, but Darlene was later tested because supposedly she had to send someone home to grab her shoes which she forgot.
Well, the shoes finally arrived and they were ready to get started. Everyone made there way to their seats and the ceremony began. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect. It wasn’t too hot, and there were even sporadic clouds to offer some shade. Darlene and David would eventually meet at the alter and it had officially begun. Soon after saying their vows, and sealing it with a kiss, they made their way to the signing. The final task was one that I haven’t really seen before but it was very cool. Everyone was asked to hug the person beside them in celebration. If presented a few really sincere and delicate moments between the guest and even the wedding party.
Once everyone cleared away, we quickly went through the portraits. I must say, with rain looming, these were the fasted portraits I have ever done at a wedding to date. The good news is, is that we came away with all the ones we wanted. Afterwards, I made my way upstairs to the balcony and grabbed a few more pics of guests mingling and waiting to enter the reception area. It continued to rain a bit more so they opened the doors and the reception was officially on. The ballroom at Old Fort is very nice and the decorations and decor that David and Darlene chose only accentuated that. It took a while for people to eventually sit down, but then again there was no hurry to do so. That is the great thing about an afternoon wedding.
As afternoon snacks were served, the speeches also began. There were a few tears shed and all the speeches were all very heartwarming. The food was great and completely different then other wedding I have photographed or attended before. They decided to go with kind of an English Tea theme. There were different sandwiches, jams, sausage rolls, teas and a few other surprises as well. I’m not really doing it justice as the names of all the snacks made me feel like royalty. Let’s just say everything tasted fantastic and it really came together with the overall decor. The last speeches were from David and Darlene. As a photographer it’s obviously my job to take photographs, but even for me, I wanted to just take some moments and listen to what they were saying. You could tell just how much in love they are with one another. It came through, in not only the speeches, but the entire day. I don’t think David or Darlene stopped smiling the entire day.
My day was done after that. We quickly gathered by the cake, got a few photos of the cutting and then I was off. It was great to be a part of Darlene and David’s special day. One of the main reasons I love being a wedding photographer is obviously because I enjoy taking photos, but another reason is because I get to experience a couple’s most important day in their lives over and over again. And then I get to tell that story in my own special way.
Katrina + Ed Wedding
It was only a couple weeks ago but Katrina and Ed's Wedding Day is still fresh in my mind. The day turned out to be one of the nicest so far of the summer, although, it was fairly hot. But, there is no way I will ever complain about hot weather in this city with winter always around the corner.
Katrina and Ed's wedding took place at their new house out on Hawkeye Lake. For those of you that haven't been to this lake it is absolutely gorgeous. I had been to their house a year prior but that was for engagement photos and the house wasn't quite done then. Seeing it for the first time with all the guests and family gathered around was quite the site. Of course, the backdrop of the Hawkeye Lake definitely helped set the mood.

Seeing it for the first time with all the guests and family gathered around was quite the site. Of course, the backdrop of the Hawkeye Lake definitely helped set the mood.
Before I made my way to the wedding site however, I first made my way to Katrina's house to capture some moments of her and the other girls getting ready. As I have mentioned many times before, I absolutely love taking getting ready shots. They are truly candid and there are always a ton of raw moments if you know how to look for them.
After about 45 minutes, I made my way to the ceremony. We had to wait a bit for Katrina to arrive but it gave me plenty of time to get a ton of candid photos of the guests. Soon enough it was time to get the ceremony on the way. With the chairs set up right on the water, and the guests gathered around anxiously waiting, Katrina eventually made her way down the steps and into Ed's grasp. I couldn't have asked for a better setting to take photos as you can see from some of the photos below.
Once the ceremony was done, there was some mingling and then we were off on the houseboat. We used this opportunity to get some great photos of the wedding party and of course, Katrina and Ed. Shortly after docking we got all the family portraits out of the way.
There were really some great moments so I had to make sure to always be ready. For instance, Katrina decided to hop on the back of the neighbours jet ski. I ran down the dock grabbed a seat and prepared myself for some action shots of the bride flying through the water. What I wasn't ready for was the fact that the driver decided to come very close to the shore and completely drench me on three occasions. It was a bit of shock, but as they say, anything for the shot. Luckily I was using my XT-1 which is waterproof. So after they were done I went back to my seat at the dinner table much more wet then when I left. Suffice it say, people got a kick out of that.
And that was my day. I got a couple last shots at the end of the road of some of the signs and then it was a 40 minute drive back home. Thanks to Katrina and Ed for letting me photograph their wedding. I still can't believe how many great shots I walked away with. I only hope they think they same.
Katherine + Gerry Wedding
My good friend Gerry who I have known since high school decided to finally tie the knot and asked me to photograph his wedding. Anytime I get the chance to photograph an friends wedding I always look forward to it. Having met Katherine a couple times prior to the wedding I knew instantly that they were perfect for each other. So once the day came, I couldn't wait to get started.

Before the ceremony, Katherine wanted some getting ready shots which took place at the same location as the ceremony, The Italian Hall. I spent about 20 minutes with girls and then it was off to the ceremony in the main banquet room. Admittedly this was the first time actually photographing the ceremony itself inside but it ended up being very nice and the decor was amazing. The ceremony itself came and went very fast but I managed to capture some good candid photos of the wedding part and of course the guests. Katherine and Gerry had a great little science experiment and there were also a couple other fun moments as well.
It was then off for some group portraits. The first stop was our old stomping ground, PACI. I really did enjoy going to that high school so it was very cool using it as a backdrop for the portraits. We started with the front entrance for the family photos and then moved on down to the trees for some of the wedding party photos.
Gerry and Katherine originally met at Madhouse so that was our next stop on the way back to the Italian Hall. We got a couple photos at the bar and then at one of the nice little tables in the back corner. Once I was done there I actually when home for a few hours and then started up again at the reception later in the evening. The reception was a ton of fun with a few great surprises. At one point a Ukrainian Dance Group took to the floor and put on a masterful performance. I actually managed to get a few good action shots as well which I was very impressed with. Then it was time for dancing and good times.
The band for the night was absolutely amazing and later in the evening Gerry joined them onstage for a few classic songs. I must say he sang pretty damn good. After a bit more dancing, the harder and bouquet toss, then eventually the cutting of the cake my night was over. All in all it was a super fun day and it was a pleasure being a part of a good friends special day. Thank you to Katherine and Gerry for the opportunity to capture there wedding day!
Photographing Sylvia + Greg's Wedding as a Guest
As a Wedding Photographer, there is a always a lot of pressure and a ton of responsibility. I always embrace both with each wedding a photograph and those two aspects are what make shooting weddings fun, among other things. Well, this past weekend I was simply a guest at a family wedding in Hamilton, Ontario. Attending this wedding made me feel like as though I have finally come full circle. The last wedding I shot as a guest was what got me into wedding photography in the first place. That was over 6 years ago. It's been one hell of a ride since then and those years have flown by.

The last wedding I shot as a guest was what got me into wedding photography in the first place. That was over 6 years ago. It's been one hell of a ride since then and those years have flown by.
This time around I had many years of experience behind me and, being a guest, I was able to get a lot of behind the scene photos and just general moments that were very candid. Although, this is how I normally shoot so it wasn't much of a change for me.
The main challenge for this wedding was using one camera and one lens. For the entire weekend I simply brought one camera, my Fuji XE-1 and the 16mm 1.4 lens. I usually have two full frame Nikons hanging over both shoulders so it was so nice just carrying around something as small and compact as the Fuji. I am seriously considering slowly sizing down my kit. This wedding showed me that I can get some amazing images with a mirrorless camera like the Fuji. Using the 16mm lens also meant that the majority of my photos were more of a wide angle perspective. I didn't mind one bit not being able to zoom in as I was still able to capture some great moments.
The toughest part by far of the wedding was the dancing portion. Once the lights went down I had to use the pop up flash on the Fuji. Usually I would have a speed light mounted but I had to make due with what I had. Surprisingly, I had a lot of keepers. All in all, it was so much fun using the XE-1 and especially the 16mm. It's such a great, sharp lens. The photos below were all shot as jpg's and edited in Lightroom with small tweaks. The BW images were show as BW in camera and again processed in Lightroom. I really didn't have to do too much editing either.
Thank you to Sylvia and Greg for a wonderful wedding day. I'm hoping these photos give them a glimpse of how I saw the day through my eyes.
Heather + Jordan Wedding
With a few small weddings under my belt this year, Heather and Jordan’s special day was my first big one of the season. The weather was absolutely perfect so I knew it was going to be a great wedding. (Not that there are ever any ‘bad’ weddings’) The day started at a small little church just off of Oliver Road. As soon as I arrived I got my usual candid photos of the guests, the church itself and just the usual moments leading up to the ceremony itself. You can always feel the anticipation the air and I just love that feeling. I guess that will be me in August when I get to marry my beautiful Fiancé Anne.

Once the ceremony began, that’s when I really went to work. The good thing was that there was a a lot of room to move around so I was able to get some great creative angles and photos without being a distraction. That is one of the main challenges when shooting inside a church of any kind. As a photographer you want to get the ‘shot’ but you have to do so quietly and discreetly as possible. I’d like to think I have become a pro at it.
After the ceremony, everyone gathered in the church lobby and congratulated the couple. We then decided to do the family portraits right outside the church. I found a nice shaded area in front of the trees. Although it was mainly family group photos I never stopped looking for this spontaneous moments. This goes on throughout the entire day.
Heather and Jordan were very smart and left plenty of time for portraits which meant we were able to travel to a few different locations. The first stop was the Marina. We got some fantastic expansive photos at the firepit area along the water. From there we simply chose different spots and just went with the flow. I came up with some ideas and so did they. It was very relaxed atmosphere and the resulting photos showed that.
Once we left the Marina, it was time for me to just focus on Heather and Jordan. We made our way to Friendship Gardens. I had forgotten how pretty it is there. Some of my favourite photos of the entire day took place there. One of them being the one with the windmill in the background. I also found a nice little spot nestled in the trees. It was then time to head on over to the reception, which took place at the Valhalla Inn. Before everyone settled in, I was able to get a lot of detail photos of the decorations and table settings, as well as the cake.
From there, it was just a matter of walking around and documenting the ceremony. I only had a little bit of time to work with so we decided to do the ‘cupcake’ cutting before hand. I did get the opportunity to photograph the first dance and a fun game they did with the crowd. After that, my day was done. All in all, I came away with so many great photos. Thanks as always to Heather and Jordan. It was a very fun wedding to photograph and everyone was fantastic to work with.
Marilynn - Robbi Wedding - Thunder Bay Conservatory
Often times when I shoot weddings they are anywhere from 3 hours all the way up to 10 hours. This time around Marilynn and Robbie simply asked me to photograph their ceremony at the Conservatory. The total time ended up being 1 hour and 15 minutes. Even though it was an hour, I came away with so many wonderful photos.

The Conservatory is always a great place to photograph a wedding because it is just filled with so many colours and the lighting is always perfect. There weren't a lot of people there but the ones that were, you can tell it was a very close family. Almost every photo I took, you could sense the emotion from each person. Especially Marilynn, who on a few different occasions couldn't hold back the tears. One of those photos ended up being my favourite one of the ceremony. Not to be outdone, Robbi had a few moments of her own.
Thanks again to Robbi and Marilynn for allowing me to be a part of their ceremony. It was great meeting them and their whole family.
My favourite wedding from the past year - Michael + Madeline
I often go back through my work and see what I have done over the past while. It's always great to see all the wonderful couples and families I have worked with. There are so many great moments that's it is easy to forget.
So, I figured it would be a good time do a special post on my favourite wedding from the past year. Not only will this give me a chance to reflect but more importantly, it will give potential clients and idea of what they can expect from a typical wedding day with me.

The wedding I chose is the one I shot this past summer with Madeline and Michael. It was actually a relatively short wedding as they only needed me for 5 hours. In the end, I was able to get a lot of great shots in the amount of time. The only drawback was that I wasn't able to get any photos of the reception aside from some of the decorations.
Hopefully this post will give prospective couples an idea of what to expect on a typical wedding day. The important thing to remember is that you make it your own. That's why I always encourage every single couple to just be themselves. Don't try to force anything.
Without further delay here are some of my favourite photos from the wedding. Oh, and by the way, if anyone wants to see some more photos check out the original blog post here.

Here it is, for those who have never had the chance to view my work, a quick intro and some samples of what I do.
So, why should you choose me to photograph your wedding? I could go into a long list of my strengths, what equipment I use, and how my Mom thinks I am the best photographer ever, but in the end it comes down to if you like my style or not. Plain and simple.
