Country Cruise Night Car Show - Kakabeka Falls
It was one of those evenings that everything the stars all aligned and everything was perfect. After Anne and I finished doing a photography assignment in Kakabeka Falls she noticed there were a bunch of vintage cars across the road. There was a car show! First we decided to actually go check out the Falls and walk around a bit. Anne let me capture some video of her in and around the Falls which I have been wanting to do for SO long, but we have just been so busy. I simply cannot wait to edit and show off that video.

Once we were done our walk, we headed to the car show and I was in heaven. The only thing I like more then classic and vintage cars, is photographing them! There were a ton of them there too which was even better. We took our time walking around and admiring the classics, and of course I took some photos in the process. The photos below are some of my favourites from the evening. I can't wait for the car shows coming up later this month. Stay tuned for posts on those!

Over the past few months I have been teaching myself video and exploring different areas with a completely different point of view, seeing as how it's different then photography. One of the areas in town I always wanted to make a short film about was FWCI. Even though it's getting pretty run down these days I still think it has so much character and potential to be beautiful again. You can view the resulting video below, but while I was there I also managed to take some photos as well.

The camera of choice was the Sony A6300 paired with the 16-50mm lens. I have since 'upgraded' to the 35mm 1.8 which I absolutely love, but you can see from the photos below that you don't always need the most expensive lenses to get decent photos. I think if I were to buy the lens on its own, It costs about $150.
I specifically got the A6300 for video and I think it is an amazing, versatile and extremely fun camera to learn videography on. What surprised me most from the Sony are the photos that it can take. Especially with the 35mm, the colours rival my Fuji cameras which are known for their great colour rendering. Plus, the focus on it is the fastest out of all my cameras, even my full frame Nikons.
That's about it. I just wanted to share some of the photos from that day. If you like the video below, don't hesitate to check out my YouTube channel. I'm still learning and teaching myself the basics of video, but I'm excited to see where it takes me.

Weekend Fun
This weekend was very busy but it was also packed with a lot of fun. We ended up playing some cards, some dice and Anne cooked some amazing meals. We even had Willow over for the weekend, and as you can tell from the cover image, she was looking for some love (and food). Jasmine and Emma slept over, as did Anne's mom, Cathy. I would have preferred to actually win's some game of dice against her, but she was ruthless.

Once the afternoon rolled around on the Saturday, we made our way to a couple of the thrift shops. I must admit, thrift stores are not high on my list, but I made sure to bring my camera along so I can see what I could capture. All in all, it was a great Saturday and it was so nice to be able to spend it with family.
Hammarskjold High School Vintage Car Show
This is just a quick post that I wanted to share. Hammarskjold High School decided to host a small vintage car show today so I decided to stop by with my camera and see what kind of cars showed up. In all, there were about 10 cars along with some off-road jeeps. I'm a sucker for vintage cars so any chance I get to attend one of these shows I jump at the opportunity.

All the cars there were very cool and of course in pristine condition. Next time I will have to take notes on the specific cars. While photographing the cars today I focused on the details as that what is most interesting to me. Of course the car itself as a whole is as sight to see but since there wasn't really a lot of space to get full car shots, I figured why not get in close.
I can't wait to attend some of the larger future events. I'll never get used to just how many of these old cars either reside in Thunder Bay or make there way through.
It was a vintage kind of day.
This past weekend I joined the ladies for a bit of a vintage shopping excursion. I figured it was the perfect opportunity to bring along the trust camera, of course, and see what gems I could find. We started the morning at the Hoito for breakfast to ensure we would have a lot of energy for all the walking around we'd be doing that day. I used my Fuji X-T1 and 24mm 1.4 combo for all the photos below.

We ended up going to a total of 3 stores. It's amazing just how many things there are to photograph in these thrift stores. I was almost tempted to buy some stuff but I only came away with one purchase, which was a toy film camera found in old Kellog's cereal boxes. It was still sealed too which made it a no brainer. Plus, it was only $2.99. After purchasing it, I simply could not wait to load some film into it later that evening and start snapping away. Of course, who knows if any of the photos will actually turn out but that is part of the suspense.
Once we dropped Cathy off, Anne and I headed to Old Navy. While she shopped I stepped outside for a bit and got a great shot of the trains in the back as well as some other things in and around the area. The day went by super fast and I was able to come away with some great captures. Thanks for viewing!
4th Annual Fat Guys Auto Show 2015
On my way to a wedding I was photographing today I quickly stopped at the Annual Auto Show at Fat Guys. I went last year and really enjoyed myself so I wanted to at least make an appearance this year to take a few photos. I literally only had about 10 minutes so I walked around quickly and just snapped a few things that caught my eye. I could have easily spent a couple hours there but I simply didn't have the time this year.
All photos were taken with the Fuji X-T1 paired with the 16mm 1.4.
