Braving the Cold Weather
I recently had to get my car serviced so I bundled up for the cold weather and brought my Fuji X-T1 along. It ended up being about an hour and half wait so I set out to explore the area and find some good photo opportunities. Since I grew up in this area for the better part of my life I knew it pretty well. But, my challenge was to explore a little deeper into areas I don't usually go.

There is a retirement home near by so I decided to walk in behind there. I noticed a large field with footprints that eventually led to the apartment complex closer to my house. So off I went, later realizing that I wasn't supposed to trespass there. When has that ever stopped a photographer right? I ended up getting some great shots here with the tall grass and old run down fence.
I then made my way to the off leash dog trail which I have been down many times before. As I got near the end though, I decided to take a shortcut through which I had never done before. I immediately saw an old abandoned shack. I stayed on the outside of it to take a few photos. I had no intent on going inside. I then finished off my walk by the police station where there is a garden area. The plants have long since died but there was still some great colours there.
It was then time to go back to the car dealership to my car. I later ventured to Westfort yet again to take some more photos but I will save that for another post.
Golf Links Road
After I got my car washed in the morning yesterday I figured I would finally visit the large empty field off Golf Links Road. I pass by it almost everyday and each time I keep saying to my myself that I should take some photos there. Well, yesterday was the day. It was quite gloomy and pretty overcast which I really didn't mind. It actually suited the overall mood of the photos.

The main things that catch my eye with this area are the trees in the background as well as a gnarly old tree with a for sale sign on it. I would have loved to have gone all the way in to where the trees in the background are buy I wasn't sure if there was some old guy in the centre of the field sitting on a lawn chair waiting for trespassers with his shotgun. So I decided to stay by the trail on the road.
With that being said, I think I came away with some interesting photos. I simply used my X-T1 with the fixed lens 35mm. So I couldn't really zoom or anything but it goes to show you, as long as you have feet to move with, you can frame any shot. I also took a few minutes to walk to the stream just of Central Avenue, which are where the last few photos came from. The last photo was of a toy bulldozer which caught my eye in someones yard. I ran up, quickly grabbed a photo and then I was on my way.
