I had the pleasure of driving down to Marathon last weekend to photography a couple of hockey teams for the Biigtigong Youth Hockey Mentorship Program. It was such an amazing experience and I got to spend time with some amazing kids (and parents). Stay tuned for another post, showing highlight from the 2nd day as well.

U13 Flames Hockey Session - Current River Arena
My recent hockey session was back at Current River Arena with the U13 Flames. We had a great time getting all the player portraits in the dressing room. The team then gathered on the ice for their team portrait which turned out amazing! The rest of the time was spent getting some good action shots on the ice.

As with all these session it was so much fun capturing a mix of player portraits and candid photos on the ice.
Chelsea + Patrick Family Session
It’s been a while since I have done a home session with a couple. So it felt really good to visit Chelsea and Patrick today, and of course their kitty, for some nice authentic and candid photos. I’m still surprised it took me 5 minutes into the session to realize how big of a Bills fan Patrick was. We of course ended the session with their game watching outfits, which was just so perfect!

North End Flames U15A - Current River Arena
I had another amazing hockey session, this time with the North End Flames U15A team. They were a really fun bunch of kids and I had a great time capturing all the individual dressing room photos, team photo and of course a whole bunch of candid/action shots on the ice.

Current River Comets - Grandview Gardens
My latest hockey photo session was with the Current River Comets at Grandview Gardens. Amongst the chaos in the dressing room we managed to get player portraits of each of the kids in there. Then it was time to get out on the ice for the group shot, and something a little bit different this time around.

I captured some extra portraits of each player on the ice as well. It was so much fun, and I simply can’t wait for the next few sessions with different teams.
Alisha + Kih Portraits - Trowbridge Falls
My recent mini-session with Alisha + Kih at Trowbridge Falls had about 3 different weather systems in the span of 30 minutes, but that made for an extremely fun and spontaneous session. It started with overcast skies, then quickly turned to large hail and eventually to clearing skies.

During that time, we managed to get a few keepers with smoke bombs, a titanic reenactment and some extremely fogged up glasses. All in all a very productively chaotic session.
Alexa Family Portraits - Centennial Park
My second session of the day was with Alexa and her 3 wonderful children. Right from the start, we made our way up into the forest using the path and the session flew by. All 3 of the little ones were absolutely fearless. They were running, climbing, falling and rolling around. It was a fun and chaotic session, with a lot of great little moments that I did my best to capture.

Kaylee + Carter Portraits - Baseball Central
It was that time of year for my annual session with Kaylee and Carter. This time around Lincoln and Vicki picked a slightly different location in Baseball Central. The main reason being for the nice fall colours surrounding the park, and secondly, because it has a lot of memories too.

Lincoln and I played baseball at this park when we were young, and Lincoln still helps look after it to this day too. It had been well over 20 years since I have been back here and it felt good to see it again. It’s definitely changed a lot, for the better, since when I was young.
Kaylee and Carter were as energetic as always which made for some great candid photos, along with a few posed ones too. I’m pretty sure Carter yelled the whole time, but that’s just what he does. I love how the photos turned out and I can’t wait until next years session!

One area of photography that has always piqued my interest is hockey. Luckily I was recently contacted by a friend who wanted to have some player portraits and action shots of her U13 Girls Hockey Team. I jumped at the chance to do so and I’m so glad I did.
One area of photography that has always piqued my interest is hockey. Luckily I was recently contacted by a friend who wanted to have some player portraits and action shots of her U13 Girls Hockey Team. I jumped at the chance to do so and I’m so glad I did.
We set up a little scene in the change room and had each player come in and do a pose of their choosing. Then we hit the ice and, after getting a large team photo, I stuck around to get a bunch of candid action shots of the girls doing their thing on the ice.
It was such a fun time and I’m looking forward to doing it again with a couple more teams next month!

My second of two mini-sessions at the Tree Farm this past weekend was with Kahla and her family. Having just photographed their wedding a couple months, I was super excited I got to do a portrait session with them. They are such a beautiful family.
